Site Surveys
Loch Awe - ScotlandPrior to developing new sites it is absolutely vital that a full survey is carried out. This is particularly important as Aquaculture spreads to new regions of the world and current technology is stretched to the limit. Although for best results, our surveyor should visit the site and carry out a full survey we can supply a detailed questionnaire which can enable the customer to provide ther equired data and allow us to give a recommendation based on that data and our experience. However, the quality of the report will very much depend on the quality of the information provided. A Kames specialist surveyor will carry out the following services:

•Wave climate assessment using hindcasting techniques;
•Hydrographic study which will include: current metering and, if necessary, drogues to assess •current strength and direction. A survey to assess water depth and seabed topography and an •anchor test to assess sediment type and likely anchor efficiency;
•Climate study including wind directions and strengths;
•Calculation of forces acting on the system;
•Detailed report with equipment recommendations and modifications where necessary and •recommendations for mooring design and any operational and maintenance issues.
